Low scores reign on first day of Scottish Open.

Players went low on the first day of the Scottish. Wide fairways and a short Par 71 track led to BIrdies, Birdies and more Birdies. Ron Christensen carded a 5 under 66 and is in the lead after finishing with 7 birdies and 2 bogies on the day.

Josh Bennett led the field with an average driving distance of 298 yards and drained 6 birdies to 2 bogies for a -4 under. He had a chance to tie Christensen on the driveable par 4 18th hole, but left his 2 iron short and 2 putted for par to finish in 2nd place for the tournaments first day.

Last week's winner, Dominic Rosati, started the round off with 2 bogies and a double bogie and was 3 over par 4 holes into the tournament. Then he ran off a record streak of 6 straight birdies and 7 in 8 holes to get to -4 under and a tie for second, but a critical mistake on an out of bounds shot on 16 left him at -3 under and alone in 3rd place after day 1.

The leaderboard has been updated and will continue to be updated throughout the week.
